Sun gives birth to a daughter, Pearl. Joe shows little interest in mom or baby. Sun wishes that she had someone to share her joy with. She wishes that she was back home with her family. She vows that her daughter will have a better life and more opportunities than she had.

Josephina wants Damien. She knows that he will not easily leave his wife, so she gives him little choice in the matter. She gets pregnant and Damien is surprised.

“Josephina, I like being with you, but I have a wife and three children,”says Damien, “I can’t possibly leave them.”

“Oh, but you can,”threatens Josephina, “Joe will be so upset that you left me vulnerable and pregnant, alone.”

Damien shudders. He had heard the rumors of Joe and his father and their tempers. Why had he gotten involved with this family? He sighed, hung his head.

“Give me a little time to tell my wife,” he says.

Josephina smiles.

One day at the park, Nicholas surprises Constance by getting down on one knee.

“Constance, I have never met a more beautiful, thoughtful woman than you,” Nicholas says, “Will you make me the happiest man by becoming my beloved wife?”

“Yes!” exclaims Constance.

The children are excited about Nicholas becoming their father. Except for Henry, who is excited about the cake Constance baked and is having a sugar high, a break from his usual moodiness.

Josephina is no stranger to moodiness. At first, she was happy. She won the prize. She had a big, beautiful house to decorate, a wedding, and new babies for others to gush over, but then the excitement wore off. Life resumed and it was not as Josephina wanted it to be.

For one, Damien was not her type. He was not involved in the exciting criminal world. He was a business man. He was just plain boring. Motherhood never interested her beyond the initial attention she received. She longed for excitement, passion, danger. She had none of that with Damien.

Damien did not find Josephina as exciting as he once had, either. He began to wonder at his life choices. He had grown bored at being the family man, having a nagging wife and three bickering children. Josephina had been enticing, fun, but then she too fell pregnant and now his life was not too different than it had been before. Once married, she became a similar nagging wife, less passionate, less interested in him. In fact, she was much worse than his first wife, who he now missed.

Josephina was spoiled and demanding. She looked down on him and his job. She wasn’t a good wife and not a good mother either. What had he done with his life?

Pearl must learn patience. Her mother not only has her to care for, but the little twins, too. Loretta and Levi were born several months after her. She must share her mom with her cousins.

The twins are a demanding pair keeping Sun on her toes and Pearl left to entertain herself.

Margaret sees Eleanor and offers to get Kurt. She is surprised to see Eleanor, who has not been by for months. Eleanor had given up trying to cheer Kurt up. All he would do was sulk and not seem to care if she came by or not. Heartbroken she moved on and started dating Kaleb.

“Actually, I came to see you. I was wondering if you could tell Kurt something. I don’t want him to hear it elsewhere, not that he would probably care,” says Eleanor, “I’m getting married.”

Margaret frowns. “Of course he will care. I know he has been kind of a jerk lately, but he does care about you. I will tell him.”

Eleanor looks down sadly,”thanks,” she says before walking away.

Eleanor hears nothing from Kurt. Hurt, she tries to erase him from her mind. Eleanor and Kaleb marry.

Kurt says nothing when Margaret tells him the news. Later, when everyone is in bed, he finds a bottle of alcohol in the back of a cabinet from some celebration long ago. He pours one glass, then two…
