Edie and Aaron grow closer and he soon proposes. They have a small wedding. He wishes that she would open up to him.

Aaron tries to ask her questions about her family and her past, but she avoids the question. He encourages her to see her mother and make amends before it is too late. She refuses.

While at home alone one evening, Grace comes across some papers. She reads them and is surprised to find that they are adoption papers. Adoption papers? Is she? No, she couldn’t be. Although, that could explain the red hair. She doesn’t know anyone who is adopted. Why would they adopt her? Does she have other parents? Where are they? Why didn’t they want her? Why didn’t her parents tell her?

If her parents can’t be honest with her, then she doesn’t need to tell them what she knows.

Grace begins to withdraw from her family spending hours in her room or outside. She only talks to them when asked a question.

As Grace continues to withdraw from her family, Fern grows more concerned. She and Grace used to be so close. At first she thought it was just a teenage phase, but it seems like something more. She tries to engage Grace to no avail.
